The Billiards Room was established in the original clubhouse premises of 3 Gibson Place in 1902, in the very same room as it exists today. In those days, though, there was only one table - provided by Taylor of Edinburgh. During extensions into 4 Gibson Place in 1929, a second table was added. Over the years, distinguished players, including World Champions John Spencer and John Higgins, a member of The New Golf Club, have accepted invites to play Exhibition games against Members.

Today, the Billiards Room is very popular with Members, with organised Tuesday night competitions and annual knockout competitions which date back to 1936.
