The New Club has been recognised as a prestigious club with a special location adjacent to the Old Course. Our Members enjoy a golfing programme packed with variety that some golfers can only dream about with over 90 official fixtures played across six links courses of St Andrews including the Old.
Since its foundation in 1902 with the active support of golfing colossus Old Tom Morris, the Club has extended a warm welcome to new members and visitors. We hope you will enjoy your experience of this very special club.
Benefits of membership
The New Golf Club is situated by the 18th fairway of the Old Course. Members play their competitive golf throughout the year on some of the best courses in the world, including four all-day meetings on the Old Course.
The Club was founded on fellowship and this is still the basis today. The formal competitions are drawn in such a way that allows Members to play with a wide and varied proportion of the membership. The inter-club matches are open to all standard of handicap and are great social occasions. There is a Golf Fellowship Week where locals and our long-distance Members enjoy a friendly week of competition and social activity. In addition we are happy to introduce our local golfers to our Country and Overseas Members so they can play within the allocation of local times and make new friends. Our members also use Facebook for further advice and tips on golf and local information. There is also an introductory video on YouTube.
Within the Clubhouse there are lockers and changing facilities available.
The Club owns two 1 bedroom flats immediately adjacent to the Clubhouse. Both flats have views over the Old Course and are available to rent by members at preferential rates.
Members are allowed to sign-in five guests at any one time. Guests can enjoy all the Clubhouse facilities including the Restaurant and Mixed Lounge. With the excellent views across the Links and West Sands beach, what better place to soak up the history of Old Tom Morris' club and entertain your family and guests.
The Clubhouse is an excellent venue when the Open Championship and other professional events are in town.
Our social programme is wide and varied, and there is something for everyone: fine dining, games (snooker, winter bowls, bridge, etc.) and musical entertainment. The Restuarant, Mixed Lounge and Meeting Room can all be booked for private functions.
Ordinary Members (golfing) have a say in the running and future of the Club including a vote at the Annual General Meeting and they have a vested interest in the proprietary rights. Our Members are proud to wear the Club tie which is available on joining.
You will receive a warm welcome from the Secretary and staff, who are readily available should you require advice on golf and related matters in St Andrews (an unofficial concierge and information service!). They are only too pleased to make a formal introduction of the Club and services to prospective Members.
