Temporary Membership

Temporary Membership is available for family/friends of New Golf Club Members for a period of one week, at a cost of £30 per person.
Temporary Membership allows visitors to make use of the clubhouse independently of the Club Member by whom they were introduced.  Facilities include the dining and bar areas, and the changing facilities (male visitors only).

Restrictions

Please note the following restrictions:

• We are unable to provide Temporary Membership for business guests.
• New Golf Club membership does not provide any golf playing privileges on the Links Courses. If you will play golf in St Andrews during your visit, tee time bookings and green fee payments should be made directly with the St Andrews Links Trust, the body responsible for managing the courses in the town ( www.standrews.com).
• Temporary Members may not sign-in guests to the clubhouse.

Applying for Temporary Membership

• To apply for Temporary Membership, please complete and return a nomination form.  Your application for Temporary Membership must be submitted and approved in advance of your visit.
• You will see that the nomination form must be supported by two New Golf Club Members.
• Please send your form – duly signed by all parties -  either by post or email (addresses can be found on the nomination form).
• The nomination form will be presented to the relevant sub-group of the club’s Management Committee for authorisation.
• If your application is accepted, the £30 fee will become payable.  This must be paid in advance of your arrival.
• A temporary membership swipe card (for door access and payments within the clubhouse) will be available upon arrival subject to a £10 deposit.

Temporary Membership: Club Rules

The Committee shall have the power to grant temporary membership of the Club: -

• to persons temporarily resident within a fifteen (15) mile radius of The New Golf Club, St Andrews who have been proposed and seconded, and approved by the Membership Sub-Committee.  The period of Temporary membership will be for a minimum of one (1) week with a maximum of three (3) weeks Temporary membership in one (1) calendar year.
• to Members of Golf Clubs, or other persons, invited by the Committee to a Club match or Club competition, for a period of Temporary membership not to exceed the day or days of duration of the Club match or Club competition in respect of which the invitation was extended. 
• to Members of Golf Clubs or bona fide parties organised by Golf Clubs or other bona fide organisations, for a period of Temporary membership not to exceed three (3) weeks in any calendar year. 
• Individuals who have occupancy of Club Apartments shall, if they wish, automatically receive Temporary membership of the Club for the duration of their stay.

The Committee shall have the power to levy a subscription in respect of the granting of Temporary membership, payable in advance.

Temporary membership granted by virtue of sections (a), (b), (c) and (d) above in this Rule shall, unless specifically restricted by the Committee, entitle the grantee to the use of the clubhouse and all its facilities, including the right to purchase excisable liquor; but shall not entitle the grantee to play in Club competitions restricted to Club Members, nor to exercise any of the other rights associated with Ordinary membership of the Club.   

When intimating the grant of Temporary membership, the Secretary shall also intimate the terms of the preceding paragraph, and when Temporary membership is being granted to a club or organisation, the Secretary shall require the visiting club or organisation to supply a list of the names of those who will be included in the grant of Temporary membership.

Temporary membership may be terminated at any time by the Committee, and it shall not be required to give any reason for such termination.
