Current Status:
Ordinary Membership of The New Golf Club will allow you to use the Clubhouse facilities, play in Club competitions, and attend social events. Clubhouse facilities include bar and catering facilities and shower/changing facilities. The Club also has three apartments available for Members to rent for short stays.

There are different classes of Ordinary membership, with eligibility determined by age and home address:
Town members are those members residing in St Andrews or within a radius of fifteen miles of the club.
Country members are those members residing within the United Kingdom, but outwith a radius of fifteen miles of the club.
Overseas members are those members residing outwith the United Kingdom.
Youth members are those members aged between 18 and 25 inclusive at the time subscriptions become payable.
Junior membership - for boys aged between 5-17 inclusive – will allow you to use the clubhouse facilities (restrictions apply for the younger juniors) and take part in junior golf competitions and events.
Junior Members aged 14+ years (or 12+ years with a handicap of 12 or below) may also play in most Club competitions.
House Membership will allow you to use the Clubhouse facilities, attend social events and book the club’s apartments. House members are not entitled to take part in club golf competitions, or to vote at the AGM.
No male applicant who holds a St Andrews Links Golfing ticket may be admitted as a House Member.
Family discounts are available for Youth, Junior and House members as follows:
Payment of an entry fee and subscription is required to join the club. An annual subscription is then payable in January each year.
The club does not offer pro-rata rates for those joining mid-way through the year.

The Club has a varied golf programme with regular fixtures including Monthly Medals (played on Thursdays and Saturdays), winter Stablefords, and inter-club matches played both home and away. A range of other fixtures, both individual and team format, are played over the year.
As the club does not own/manage a course, membership gives no playing privileges on any course.
All golf in St Andrews is played on the St Andrews Links courses, which are managed by the St Andrews Links Trust. Green fees are not included in Club membership, and must be paid directly to the St Andrews Links Trust.

The first step in the process is to submit the relevant nomination form, signed by a Proposer and Seconder, both of whom should be current Ordinary members (not House or Junior members) and both of whom must have been members themselves for at least two years, and have personally known the nominee for a minimum period of two years.
The Proposer should submit a letter/email of introduction to support the application. Nomination forms submitted without a supporting letter will not progress in the process until such a letter is provided.
Nominations must be reviewed by the Committee of Management, with approval given by a simple majority.
Following committee-approval, nominees' details are made available to Members for a period of at least two weeks. Any member wishing to make representations regarding any of the nominees may do so in writing within the two-week period.
After the above-mentioned two-week period,successful nominees will either:

The address which will determine your membership category – and so the address which you should put on your nomination form – is your primary address (i.e. not a holiday home).
Their letter should include further information about you and why they are recommending you for membership. It should also include information on how you know the person, golf ability and why you wish to support their Nomination.
You are welcome to submit a new nomination for membership form, accompanied by a letter from your Proposer. You may also wish to include a cover letter to advise that you previously held membership at the club.
Please note that an entry fee will be payable upon re-joining (the exception being that Youth members who leave the Club before age 25 may re-join the Club as Ordinary members without need for an additional joining fee, up to the age of 30).
